| YOU HAVE TO OWN A XBOX 360 TO REALLY UNDERSTAND THIS ONE Jun 02, 2009 Posted By Dominic | |
| I know not everyone in my audience will get this. Like I said in the title you have to really be playing a 360 to understand this, but I think everyone can understand the feeling of suddenly being to "old" to get what the hell is going on. I finally get it, because this all seems so stupid to me I can barely handle it. To explain for those of you who don't know, when you play the new XBOX 360 console, you have to create a profile that's called a "gamertag". This is how you save your games. It records your achievements. Think of it this way...the new game consoles are computers, they have harddrives now like a computer. So in order to save your games on it, you need to create a profile or "gamertag" to record your games and your achievements, and apparently get rewards. You create it the first time you play. Ok...a few weeks after I bought my 360, I decided to get an online account on XBOX LIVE so I could play video games with friends online. Only they won't let you use your original "gamertag". You have to make a new one. Foolishly I thought, well if I have to make this new one, I should delete my old one and focus on this new one. Only I didn't want to lose the progress I've made on my games that I've been playing. However when I went to delete this old profile, it said I could keep my saved games. So I thought...cool...I'll just keep playing them with my new improved online enabled "gamertag". It's all on my personal XBOX 360 anyway right? Wrong. Once I deleted my old non-online "gamertag", my saved games couldn't be opened again. They were there...but stuck. I did research. I asked for help. I contacted XBOX LIVE HELP. I was treated like an idiot at every turn by those younger and smarter then I. I realized that I am old. Stupid. Far too logical for modern gaming and my saved games were gone. Stupid? Yes. A sad realization that I am slowly losing touch with the cutting edge of new? *sigh* Yes. A big thanks to JoeDissolvo on the board who did try to help me. Alas, I've had to start over. A minor annoyance to be sure...but annoying nonetheless. Finally if you don't understand why the operator on help line would be so young, then you have obviously never spent time among the general public using XBOX LIVE. Rude little shits on there. Whippersnappers! I'm just going to stick to playing with my friends and my peeps on my board. CLICK HERE TO NOT BE A NOOB | |
